Free Resourceful Organizations For Nurses

As a Nurse sometimes it seems very difficult to find organizations which accepts you free , owing that most of Nurses in the Low and Middle income Countries are also battling with the remuneration issue to meet their daily need, they find it very difficult to join organizations which are subscribed through paid dues.
However, Nurses Round brings you the profile of some great Resourceful Organizations, Forums, and Groups where very important discussions go on on daily basis some are exclusively for Nurses while some are generally for all Categories of Health care practitioners.
One thing good though is that all of them are Exclusively free for nurses, not only free for joining, but most of their resources are also free to its members. In these Organizations of which i have been for some years now, I can categorically tell you that "It is all a Plus" to you as a nurse, student Nurse, Nurse Administrator etc. Here you can Network, Improve you knowledge, compare your resources with the most current one and have the opportunity to have other people's view as well as compare and contrast you current work with others.Remember I am summarizing, do follow the links to join and benefit as much as you can.

1.HIFA2015-Health Information For All 2015

There is a great need for Nurses and Midwives to Join HIFA2015 which aims to increase and improve the availability of health care information in the low and middle income countries, though the need for health care information for all goes beyond Low and middle income Countries, It is now a Global need. HIFA is one of the most populated Health discussion group which brings together all categories of Health care professional i.e Nurses, Physicians, Radiologist, Health Coaches... it can be a very long list. For the need for Nurses to Join HIFA, they have created a special focus for Nurses and Midwives called : HIFA Nursing and Midwifery Challenge: With the following objectives:
  • Raise awareness of information poverty among nurses and midwives
  • Promote discussion among all stakeholder groups: nurses, midwives, librarians, publishers, policymakers and others
  • Undertake a literature review of information needs of nurses and midwives, and how to meet them
  • Identify solutions and ways forward
HIFA also have other discussion Groups like the CHIFA (Child Healthcare Information For All – formerly CHILD2015) which addresses the need for nurses and other professionals working in the field of Children's  Health, HIFA Portugal, HIFA Zambia etc.

2. GANM- Global Alliance For Nursing and Midwifery 

GANM provided nurses with the opportunity to share information amongst themselves, Network, access Educational material and get instant news events in Nursing. GANM is one of the most participatory Nursing Organization Worldwide. Through GANM you can get the most current information about nursing practices as well as make your contribution to a larger society and have the opportunity to influence the outcome of Nursing Practice. Here You can exchange Resources, Materials, Tools in Nursing profession discuss Research outcome and by doing so affecting the future of Nursing and Midwifery Positively- I prefer calling it "The Knowledge Gateway" because of the enormous knowledge one gets from being its member which is the website name

3.Global Health Delivery Online (GHDonline) 

As the name implies, This is a multi-Communty Global Health Campaign where experts from different health care sector come together to improve the health care delivery worldwide through information sharing. Here as a Nurse, yo can do as much as you want such as Starting a Discussion like in other Groups, Organize and expert panel, Suggest a new community and navigate through many communities or even becoming a Moderator. Happy about these? GHDonline is currently made up of 13 public Communities led by more than 40 moderator and it can only get better. However, You cannot enjoy all these without becoming a member.

4. mHealth Working Group

As part of the knowledge Gateway, you can become a member if you are interested in innovations via mobile and electronic Health delivery and the use of mobile Phones to improve the Health standards of individuals. Here innovation, Practical approaches, sharing of knowledge and networking is the leading principle of this group through which they influence the health care system worldwide. As a Nurse you have so much to contribute, develop and share in this communities as Tele-Nursing is taking a stronger hold!

5. ISfTeH- International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth 
Here I have to hint again that the membership for Nurses and Nursing Students are all free and the good thing is that Nurses already have a Special network in there called "Telenursing Working Group" you can read more about it here
Lead by distinguished Nurses,the working groups tends to harness the activities of Nurse in the ISfTeH and is bringing the best out of Nurses. In this Organization you get yearly certificate of membership and will always qualify to attend their Medetel which is a annual event/conference organized by the organization in Luxemburg. 6. Global Nurses' Research Network
As part of the Global Health Network which is also free to join, The Global Nurses' Research Network is a free to join Group where nurses in Research come together to network and share information. The good aspect though it the all their materials are open access meaning you can read all articles free, Get materials free, Learn through various research tools and e-courses available , networking, and ability to join the professional membership scheme. It can only get better.

www.elearnsci.org - By The International Spinal Cord Society -  there are modules for all members of the multi-disciplinary team, including nurses. At present, just in english, but translations are underway for other languages.

www.scinurse.org - By The International Network of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses - resources available in many languages.

www.haitisci.org - The Haiti Spinal Cord Injury Working Group - resources in english, french and Haitian Creole.
From being a member of most of these networks, I have gained so much and currently the HIFA Country Representative of Year 2013. I must hint on the need for more nurses to join these great Groups, Networks and Organizations which will only but improve the professional standard of Nursing in Low and middle income countries as well as Global.
