ROLE OF NURSING ENVIRONMENT IN PATIENT’S RECOVERY

ROLE OF NURSING ENVIRONMENT IN PATIENT’S RECOVERY

Having searched and compared many health care system reports on environmental role in patients recovering NursesRound has identified the importance of good nursing environment to patients recovery.
Nursing environment can be seen as the pattern adopted through the time of patient’s care or the way and approach of Nurses towards a particular patients handling during care in a particular environment/setting.
Nursing environment integral part in patient’s recovering through one may argue if they are conscious of that especially in the developing and the under developing world.
Having our observatory studies, we found out that most patients in the developing countries who are admitted end up with complications such as nosocomial infection, bed sore, emotional imbalances.
Nurses environment are comprised of sections such as nurse approach to a patient in times of care, nurse patient interaction strategy, (nurse-patient relationship), care delivery in terms of procedures and ward management.
These environments if well placed go a very long way in patient’s recovery especially where the patient is dependent on the nursing care. The nurse managers/ward manager has a lot of role to play in as it may differ from patient to patient.
The introduction of cases management in nursing and personalized care was a big move towards achieving and effective nursing environment. However the hospitals lack of implementation and the work environment may have some roles to play in achieving a good nursing environment. Nursing environment in relation to patient’s recovery compose of proper and timely bed making, timely drug administration, patients counseling, creation of appropriate nurse–Patient relationship, application of good listening and observation skills, advocacy, feeding pattern, maintaining asepsis and clean environment.
The effect of nursing environment to patient’s recovery may as well go beyond observatory studies to scientific research.
However nursing can testify to the greater recovery of patients from a well organized nursing environment
Nursing environment can be extended to every area of nurse practice such as, clinics, hospital, home care nursing, as well as industrial nursing.
Nursing environment is a greater means of earning patients trust and psychological acceptance of needs. In the developed world it may be argued that this area are well taken care of because of patient’s awareness of rights. But we are solely concerned about the developing world where though the future is bright but majority of patients do not know what they deserve to get from nurses as well as the entire health care system. Hence there is a need for insights by nurse in these areas to know how importance and significant good nursing environment will be to a patient recovery.

One may argue that patients may recover from medical interventions only, but Nurses Round observed that more cases of patient recovery can be attributed to good nursing care through adequate nursing environment.

Nurses Round would like to learn more through contribution discussion on how a better nursing environment can be achieved in order to optimize patient’s recovery through nursing care.
